Re: Reconnecting during the Renaissance!

Greetings Fellow Wilberforceans!

We have exciting news to share about our University! This year is already a phenomenal year for our dear old WU and the rest of the year is very promising.

The year kicked off with the PBS documentary “Tell Them We Are Rising” which showcased the history behind HBCU’s. We then embarked upon a new journey with our new President, Dr. Elfred Anthony Pinkard. Dr. Pinkard has visited several alumni chapters to provide the state of the university. At Dawn Dance, students from all over the United States visited Wilberforce and partnered with fellow alumni to get up close and personal information about the WU experience. Also, Wilberforce took a giant step forward with the appointment of Cynthia W. Roseberry '86, Esquire, as the VP of Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the Mark and Shelly Wilson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation!

As we move into a new phase and gear up for the upcoming annual National Alumni Conference in Columbus, Ohio, this year’s theme “Tapping into Our Roots, Ensuring the Renaissance” is one of the reasons we are contacting you today. We want you to rejoin the family and be a part of the Wilberforce Renaissance. One of the main components of the University is student recruitment and retention. Please consider this an invite and challenge to reconnect with your fellow alumni in your area and assist in recruiting students on an ongoing basis. Our chapters are located on the website:

Secondly, the University administration will be actively pursuing endowments, grants and foundations to help take our school to the next level and remain on the cutting edge in entrepreneurship, technology, etc. In order to attract corporate donors, we must show that we have a large percentage of our alumni donating to the University on an on-going basis. This is standard procedure for securing multi-million dollar donations.

We need our alumni to make donations now to be on the right side of history going forward! Please go to today and make your contribution. Also, this is also a challenge to set up your account for monthly donations which will make our path forward solid as a rock. Please rejoin the family. You will be glad you did. Thanks in advance for coming back home to dear old WU!

Dear Alumni and Friends of Wilberforce:

At the age of 23 Wilberforce University became my refuge. I stepped out on faith to attend this great university not knowing that it would change my life forever. In 2002, the decision to attend Wilberforce University for just fewer than one hundred young adults from Baltimore, Maryland was made in less than a twenty-four hour time frame. We traveled together on the “Bulldog Express” to campus, a journey we will never forget. It was safe to say that some of us were hungry for an escape from the city. Wilberforce became home .and we became a part of a long family legacy.

As Wilberforce alums we all have compelling stories of how this great institution has become part of our lives in such a loving way. We have all experienced help along the way as we matriculated through the halls of Wilberforce. The students that remain on campus today still rely on that same assistance.

In the recent past our Alma Mater has been challenged on every front by the students, faculty, and the alumni association. The very survival of our institution is dependent on what its stakeholders produce in the time of struggle. As we all know there are many projects and efforts that need to be completed to aid our students. The Alumni Association is asking that you give NOW and give often.

Your continued financial support is crucial during this segment of Wilberforce’s history. We understand that alumni and friends have been discouraged over the years; we cannot let this defeat our purpose. WE MUST GIVE of our time, talents, and treasure – if not us, then who.

We invite you to join us in our mission. Please donate NOW by CLICKING HERE. With your help we can restore our beloved alma mater and continue to educate and produce excellence as we are – THE FIRST, THE FINEST, & THE FUTURE.

Suo Marte,

Sheri J. Neale ‘06
